I have always loved the look of vintage things, from clothes to decor to pictures. Since moving to the east coast, I have been able to share in Jon’s love for photography. He is obsessed in the best way possible. These past few months, he has gotten into film photography. Now owning a plethora of cameras, he set me up with a roll of Kodak Gold 200 in his Pentax K1000.

This is the very first picture I took with it.

We were in Raleigh because Jon had a doctor’s appointment that day, and I tagged along. We stumbled onto a motorcycle festival while walking around downtown. I did my best to get some shots before the sun went down.

Downtown Wilmington is where I work and spend the majority of my time. It was fun to walk around and capture some of the area.

One of Jon’s co-workers had never been to the western side of North Carolina, so we planned a weekend trip to Asheville. We camped at Pilot Mountain, stopping at the Linville Falls and hiking to the top of Table Rock. Unfortunately, quite a few of the pictures I took turned out blurry. Here are a few of the better ones.

After a run on Topsail Island, I took my last shot on the roll. I couldn’t be happier about how it turned out.

The same week that I got my pictures back, Jon left me with an endearing note and my very own film camera: a Cannon AE-1. I cried. Shooting my first roll was such a fun experience from start to finish, and I love having a teacher who is so passionate about what he does. I can’t wait to see how the next batch turns out.
